Tae Roads grew up writing poetry and stories, eventually transitioning to music by the age of 11. Within less than a year, music had become his passion, and he was hooked after recording his first song. At just 13, Roads left an unpromising neighborhood in Birmingham, Alabama and headed for Los Angeles to pursue his dreams, while living with his father.

After years of learning about the industry and perfecting his craft, Tae Roads’ eventually found professional management, established valuable industry connections, and was afforded great opportunities; one of these opportunities being co-writing a Billboard-charting single released by Motown Records’ then-artist, Mila J (‘Kickin’ Back’) at the age of 18.

The following year, Tae Roads made his official solo debut with the release of a 12-track mixtape: ’2 Late 2 Remember’ hosted by Young California’s DJ Carisma, DJ Amen, and Dre Sinatra. The project was nearly featureless, with the exception of an appearance from Mila J on the song ‘2 Late’. The project was exclusively released on DatPiff, but still managed to accumulate more than 48,000 views and 3,000 downloads.

Shortly after his debut release, changes in management resulted in an unexpected hiatus, temporarily benching Tae Roads from “the game,” but also affording him the opportunity to rebuild and re-brand himself better than ever before. Now 22 and independent, Roads is hungry and ready to take over. The confidence and infectious vibe of his redefining new single ‘Can’t Get Em Off Me’ makes it obvious.
