"Freeform-bass fusion that can rock a dance floor."
With roots stemming from progressive rock, hip-hop, jazz fusion, funk metal, and reggae, Smith became infatuated with several electronic artists that intermingled these genres. Artists such as Bleep Bloop, Of The Trees, Kursa, Caspa, Mad Zach, Deadmau5, and Pretty Lights helped to shape his sound when he began producing in 2016.
Under the Sharrol Kelby moniker, Smith has since released multiple EPs, several singles and remixes, and has supported acts such as Shades (EPROM & Alix Perez), The Glitch Mob, Mr. Carmack, Tsuruda, Buku, Esseks, Emalkay, Thelem, and Mad Zach. He continues to move the Sharrol Kelby project forward with his mix of experimental hip-hop, halftime/future beats and dubstep, combined with mind-bending live edits and mixing through a custom Ableton Live setup.

"Both him and Sharrol Kelby really showed their versatility in their approach to “Say No Mo.” Speaking of, Sharrol is a master of wonk and peculiarity when it comes to sound. From tracks like “S.L.A.N.G.” that are the definition of leftfield bass, to this Terror Reid remix, you can hear the way that Kelby’s influence blended perfectly with BEMAH’s to produce an exciting sound." - The Electric Hawk
"A protege of the one and only true bass music sensei and audio wizard Ill.Gates, Alec Smith, also known by Sharrol Kelby, aims to take the kings to the kingdom he acquired through the Producer Dojo and carve out his own audible legacy of greatness. Sitting on the more energetic side of left-field bass, his music focuses on experimental sound design that flexes sound systems in ways they didn’t know possible and stretches the limbs of listeners to their full capabilities. He’s found great success with releases like his remix of Terror Reid’s ‘Say No Mo‘, and a saucy original in the form of ‘S.L.A.N.G.‘ Now, he’s continued to put on full display a complex, distinct style, full of character and originality." - FUXWITHIT
"All my halftime people are about to be blown away by Sharrol Kelby’s newest release. To quote Headbang Society’s very own Segovia Carlos, “this track is what I like to call a certified bop.” The track, being released via Gainesville Collective Sublimited Sounds and premiered on Headbang Society, features what can only be described as a quite beautiful fusion of breakbeats, dope vocal samples & killer neuro bass. This track will truly take you on a journey throughout its three-and-a-half minutes reminiscent of putting the pedal to the metal. Alec Smith, the artist behind the Sharrol Kelby name, has truly put a name to himself throughout a hectic 2020, appearing on various virtual festivals including Digital Footprints, Subsonic Music Festival, and #iVoted Festival! Drive is yet another certified banger in Mr. Kelby’s impressive discography. I personally cannot wait to see what is yet to come!" - Headbang Society
"It seems like there are new genres of electronic music being born daily, but today’s the first time we’ve heard what we’ll now be referring to as 'Kung Fu Bass'. When presented with the challenge of creating a song with this theme, producers Sharrol Kelby and Munchii stepped up to the plate in a major way. Together, they cooked up some magic on an epic track 'Terra Cotta Soldier'" - Thissongissick.com
